Hey, valued friend! My name is Nozinhle. I am the African Social Workers’ Lifestyle Guru. My journey into social work started in the dusty streets of my hometown in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Seeing all the families that needed support to improve their lives was the biggest motivator to pursue a career in Social Work.
Fast forward to 2016, I migrated to the UK to continue working as a social worker, an experience I would say was ‘diving with the head first into the deep end’. Without guidance on the must-know and must-do things to transition into my role as a social worker in the UK, I was underprepared.
The experience was overwhelming, and my employer did not understand the support I needed as an overseas recruited social worker. This made the transition process very difficult to the point that I almost lost my job.

Social workers are in demand in the UK and Africa is fast becoming a recruiting ground. The case loads are getting bigger and the concerns are getting complex. At the same time, many social workers are leaving the profession.
The employers are expecting newly recruited social workers to ‘hit the road running’ with little to no support, which increases the risk of social workers recently recruited from Africa struggling in their practice and risk not passing the probation period and not securing a permanent job.
Don't struggle trying to figure it out by yourself.
Let's get started on your plan to come to the UK.

As an African Social Workers' Lifestyle Guru, I mentor and provide guidance on must-do things to social workers recruited from African to work in the UK so that they can have confidence success and support. Eventually secure the job and the ‘’BAG’’
The journey is better understood, travelled and successfully completed by those who seek for guidance from those who have journeyed before them.

If you know of any African SWS who are coming to the UK or are already here, share this page with them so they can get in touch today!
